During the first session, Speaker of the House Lindsay Hoyle was re-elected, former Prime Minister and now Leader of the Opposition RIshi Sunak and new Prime Minister Keir Starmer gave speeches. Sunak congratulated his opponent, while Starmer repeated the sentiment he had given during his first speech as PM by referencing a “Parliament of service”.
